Nick has extensive experience advising senior executives on strategy, regulation and competition issues in the communications, video and media sectors. Nick has worked with service providers, investors, and government agencies to assess the market for new opportunities, anticipate competitive challenges, increase marketing effectiveness, implement new technology, and evaluate potential mergers and acquisitions.
Since 1999, Nick has led nearly 300 consulting projects for his clients. He has conducted diligence of new business models across the world, including in Haiti, Mexico, India, Japan, China, Martinique, Spain, Germany, and other countries. He has participated in numerous regulatory proceedings either as a direct witness or in support of direct witness testimony; issues included the TRO, TRRO, major ILEC mergers, special access pricing flexibility, and others.
Nick is on the Board of Directors of several private companies, and, until recently, was also on the Board of Directors of iPCS, prior to its sale to Sprint in 2009. He serves as Treasurer for the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation, the leading non-profit foundation dedicated to discovering a cure for carcinoid cancer, and is Chair of the Advisory Committee for the (MS)2 program at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA. He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from MIT and is a CFA charter holder. Nick spends his free time water-skiing, barefoot running, and swimming.
Over the past fifteen years Jim has been a trusted advisor to senior executives and investors in emerging and industry-leading communications, media, and technology companies. Prior to joining CMA, Jim was a senior partner at Oliver Wyman where he delivered key strategy projects for some of the largest network communications service providers in North America and Europe. He is an established industry expert who is frequently quoted in such publications as the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Business Week.
Prior to his consulting career, Jim was an operator, investor, and partner in Benchmark Associates, a Boston-based M&A and investment boutique. Jim has a twenty year track record as an active early-stage investor and entrepreneur with several successful startups and turnarounds to his credit. He has a BS degree in from MIT, and an MBA from Harvard. Jim is on the Board of the New England Aquarium, the Advisory Board of the Technology Capital Network, and is a member of the angel fund, Walnut Ventures.
